Hello, my name is Gordon and I am from housing services. Our aim is to help people live at home and remain independent.

We are here to help you live well, safely and confidently at home if you're living with dementia.

Most people living with dementia want to stay at home; and we can help.

The first thing we would suggest is that you consider contacting us and getting a housing options interview.

This services is available for anyone who lives in Fife whether you rent or own your home.

We would come to your home, or you can visit us or contact us by phone or email.

We would also be happy to meet with one of your family or carers to talk about what we can do, if that would suit you better.

The first stage of housing options would be to have a conversation about how best to make your current house work for you.

For example, your lighting using the handy person service. If you are not as physically able as you once were we can look at potential adaptations to your property .

We will discuss with you what might help. We will talk to you about technology that will help you remain at home. For example, you might like to consider a community alarm system which will allow you to raise an alarm if you need help or tele-care which, for example, can alert your family if a cooker has been left on.

There are a lot of things available now that can help make it easier for you to live well at home with dementia.

If you own your own home, we can also have a discussion with you about how could make your house work better for you. Or we can help you to think about selling your house and moving to a smaller one.

There are a number of places you can get housing options advice. If this is something you would be interested in, this services is offered by Fife Council housing Service and by the Disabled Persons Housing Service. The Disabled Persons Housing Service is an independent agency that has been set up to provide tailored advice for people who are older or have a disability.
